Fluffy, lilac-purple flower clusters float over bluish-green, ferny foliage in mid summer. Foliage resembles that of columbines. Attractive to butterflies.

Prefers partial to light shade, but will tolerate sun if given sufficient moisture. Grows best in moist, organic-rich soil and is even tolerant of wet soil.
