Large green foliage sets off tall stems of deep purple flower heads. Blooms in late summer and fall. Biennial if seeds are allowed to set. These large, architectural plants prefer deep, moist, fertile soil. Deer resistant. Attractive to butterflies.

Plants prefer partial to full shade and deep, moist, fertile soil, but will tolerate some sun if given sufficient moisture.
