Rosettes of silver-blue leaves are shaded with pink, turning deep purple with grayish green edges and hints of silver over the season. After flowering, the mother plant (hen) dies to make room for the offsets (chicks) around her. Deer resistant.
Grow sun to light shade in poor to moderately fertile, sharply drained soil. Useful in strawberry pots, tucked in crevices, and in rock gardens.
