Attractive, delicate blue, evergreen foliage shaped rather like tiny spatulas and cartoon hands. Yellow to chartreuse flowers in early summer. Host plant for the swallowtail butterfly larvae.
Tolerates partial shade. Drought tolerant once established. Shear after blooming for neater appearance. May cause skin irritation. Deer resistant.
Prefers well-drained soil. Do not fertilize heavily.
