Mentha spicata

Spearmint

1"-2" green leaves have a sweet mild, peppermint favor. Lavender flowers. The best mint for flavoring jelly. Very vigorous and should be planted in large buried pots to control the spread of runners. Attractive to butterflies. Deer resistant.

Prefers sun to part shade and moist, well-drained soils, but is drought tolerant. Do not fertilize heavily.
