Purple to deep blue blooms with a yellow throat are borne above strap-like foliage with prominent midribs. Attractive to butterflies. Deer resistant. Suitable for pond-side, bog or moist garden.
Best in full sun to light shade and moist to wet soils. Tolerant of excessive moisture including bogs. Prefers acidic soil. Can tolerate clay soil.
During the growing season, it thrives in standing water (up to 6” deep). However in winter, it is intolerant of both standing water and boggy soils where rhizomes may rot.
