Delightful blooms resemble little shuttlecocks with reflexed bright yellow petals and prominent purple brown cones. Clump-forming plants are erect and branch at the top. Blooms late summer into fall. Native to the eastern half of U.S.
Prefers full sun and rich, medium moist to wet soils. They are often found in ditches, swamps, sloughs and other wet areas. Good rain garden plants. Do not overfertilize. Does not cause hayfever.
