Dalea purpurea

Purple Prairie Clover

Wiry stems balance purple flowers with enormously proportioned, blue-green seedheads in summer. A midwest prarie native that is adaptable to many soil types (except wet) and highly attractive to pollinators.

Despite its common name, Dalea purpurea is actually a type of legume. It is commonly used in restoration projects for its nitrogen-fixing capabilities.
