Native, moisture lover with coarse, scented, purple tinted foliage and large clusters of fluffy wine-red flowers. Tall upright variety. Attractive to butterflies.  Deer resistant.

Prefers full sun to light shade and moist to wet soils. Tolerant of coastal conditions, clay soil, and boggy situations. Tolerates drought once established, but will look better with supplemental moisture.
