Striking rosettes of heart-shaped, spiny, dark green leaves that are marbled and mottled with white veins. Steel blue flower heads. Clump former. Attractive to butterflies. Evergreen. For drying, cut stems before flowers are fully open. Clay tolerant
Prefers full sun and moist, well-drained average soils. Tolerant of clay soil, coastal conditions and drought.
