Bigelowia nutallii

Rayless Goldenrod

This rare plant is a tough evergreen that looks like a goldenrod with yellow rayless flowers. Clumps of narrow grassy leaves produce slim upright stems to 20” topped by broad brush-like clusters of narrow blooms. Great in rock gardens and dry areas.

Prefers full sun and well-drained soil. Well adapted to arid, rocky and exposed sites, but is also found in wet acidic savannahs and seeps. Native in southeast to Texas.
