Heliopsis helianthoides var. scabra 'Bleeding Hearts'

Smooth Ox-eye Daisy

Tall, upright, clumping plants have dark purple tinted foliage and black stems topped with red-orange, daisy-like blooms that age to bronze. Flowers summer into fall attracting butterflies and hummingbirds. Great cut flower. Native strain.

Prefers full sun and average to moist, well-drained soil. Tolerates light shade, but best in full sun. Plants may be trimmed back by 1/3 to 1/2 in mid-May for shorter plants and more bloom.
