Large, sharply pointed, succulent leaves that are washed with rose to deep red depending on the season, form large rosettes.  After flowering, the mother plant (hen) dies to make room for the offsets (chicks). Deer resistant.

Grow in full sun with poor to moderately fertile, sharply drained soil.
