Hens & Chicks
Succulent gray-green leaves are slender and pointed, heavily stained with red. Chicks appear on bright red stolons. After flowering, the mother plant (hen) dies to make room for the offsets (chicks). Deer resistant.
Grow in sun to light shade in poor to moderately fertile, sharply drained soil. Useful in strawberry pots, tucked in crevices, and in rock gardens.
