Rosettes of succulent blue-green leaves have ruby-red centers. After flowering, the mother plant (hen) dies to make room for the offsets (chicks). Deer resistant.
Grow in sun to light shade and poor to moderately fertile, sharply drained soil. Useful in strawberry pots, tucked in crevices, and in rock gardens.
