Similar in form to common milkweed, but rhizomes are less aggressive making it better for garden use. 4" rounded clusters of fragrant, spiky, pinkish-purple flowers top thick stems of velvety blue-green leaves in summer. Native to western N. Am.
Prefers full sun and tolerates a wide range of soils from moist to dry. Very drought tolerant! Deer resistant. Attractive to butterflies, hummingbirds and other pollinators.
