Aster (Eurybia) divaricata Eastern Star

White Wood Aster

Sprays of small, white, daisy-like flowers over arrow-shaped, deep green foliage. More compact than the species. Shade tolerant groundcover that spreads by rhizomes and seeds. Native. Attractive to butterflies and hummingbirds. Deer resistant.

Grows best in moist, rich soil, with half to full shade. Normal moisture is best but can tolerate some drought and coastal conditions. However, if kept too dry, they may develop powdery mildew on their leaves. Can be grown under black walnut trees.
