Large, somewhat glossy, leathery leaves are dark green with a lighter green patterning. The 1 1/2"-2" black blooms with white "panda" faces are unusual, but beautiful, although typically hidden by the foliage. A relatively fast grower for an Asarum. Outstanding! Evergreen.
Prefers light to full shade and moist, humus-rich soil. It can tolerate clay and damp soils, but is also drought tolerant once established.
