Velvety silvery green leaves on upright plants set off pale pink to almost pure white blooms in early summer. Wooly silver basal clumps of foliage may be evergreen in warmer zones. Attractive to hummingbirds and butterflies. Deer resistant. Long blooming, if regularly deadheaded. Usually short-lived, but readily self-sows.
Prefers sun to light shade and average to moist, well-drained soil. Drought tolerant once established, but appreciates supplemental moisture for best appearance.
