Native wildflower. Nodding clusters of 1" fragrant trumpet-shaped flowers that are pink in bud but open to blue. Foliage is dormant in summer. Deer resistant. Self sows where happy. Occasionally a plant will have white rather than blue blooms, an attractive surprise.
Can be grown under black walnut trees.
Prefers partial to full shade and moist, cool soil. Tolerant of drought and coastal conditions.
