Bell-shaped blooms of deep blue with a bit of white appear in the leaf axils. At each axil, four thick, glossy green leaves meet to form a cross giving its common name. More drought tolerant than most Gentian.
Prefers morning sun and afternoon shade and moist, well-drained soil, but it can tolerate full sun with sufficient moisture. Resents winter wet.
