1"-2" wide, triangular, deep blue-violet blossoms with sulfur-yellow stamens are produced for up to eight weeks in summer. Dark green, coarse grassy foliage forms clumps that are nice for pondside or naturalizing. Self-sows.
Grows best in moist, rich soil in sun to light shade. Tolerant of clay soil. Deer resistant. Can be grown under black walnut trees.
